Many blessings and congratulations today to the people and new government of South Sudan. After a long and bitter civil war, the predominantly Christian and animist South has seceded from the primarily Muslim North. This was based on a referendum back in January. There’s still a TON of work to do especially with border disputes surrounding the large oil reserves in the South.
They need much prayer for a peaceful transition and border delineations. As well, let’s pray that the government stays free of corruption as they put into practice the ideals of freedom and peaceful self-rule that founded their country.
